St Fergus

Coastal village in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, 8 km/5 mi northwest of Peterhead; population (2001) 527. A gas pipeline reaches here from Frigg Field in the North Sea, and there is a processing complex for related chemical industries. Gas from Frigg Field is treated at St Fergus to remove water and other impurities; the terminal was expanded to enable it to receive gas from the Brent field.
