St George's Bay

Inlet on the southwest coast of Newfoundland, Canada, on the Gulf of St Lawrence, at the mouth of the St George's River, south of the Port-au-Port Peninsula; length 100 km/60 mi; width 62 km/38 mi (at its mouth). It is bounded by Cape St George to the north and Cape Anguille to the south.

Once part of the French Shore, the area around the bay still has a large francophone population. Stephenville, at the head of the bay, is the area's largest town. St George's (population (1990) 1,700) is a port nearby on the southeastern shore.
