James, St (lived 1st century AD)

New Testament apostle, originally a Galilean fisherman. He was the son of Zebedee and brother of the apostle John. He was put to death by Herod Agrippa. James is the patron saint of Spain. His feast day is 25 July.

James, St (lived 1st century AD)

In the New Testament, a disciple of Christ, son of Alphaeus. Feast day 3 May.

James, St (lived 1st century AD)

The New Testament brother of Jesus, to whom Jesus appeared after the Resurrection. Leader of the Christian church in Jerusalem, he was the author of the biblical Epistle of James.

Flockton Parish Church of St James the Great has finalised arrangements for a Flower Festival to mark the occasion of the 140th birthday of the present church building.
Also in the final are St Bega's, Bassenthwaite, Cumbria; St Peter ad Vincula, Coggeshall, Essex; St Andrew's, South Warnborough, Hampshire; St Cuthbert's, Clungunford, Shropshire; and St James the Great, Aslackby, Lincolnshire.
St Michael's Church in Bishops Itchington, Warwickshire, Holy Trinity Church in Malvern, Worcestershire, and St James the Great in Eve Hill, Dudley, are among the other West Midland churches to benefit from the latest round of funding.
