St Joseph Bay

    0.03 sec.

St Joseph Bay

Inlet of the Gulf of Mexico on the Florida Panhandle, 130 km/80 mi southwest of Tallahassee, northwest Florida; length 23 km/14 mi; width 3–10 km/2–6 mi. It is separated from the Gulf by the St Joseph Peninsula, a narrow sand spit.

The bay forms the harbour for the timber and paper producing and fishing city of Port St Joe (population (1990) 4,000), and was the site of the early settlement of St Joseph, where Florida's constitution was drawn up in 1838.
