St-Amand-les-Eaux

French town in the département of Nord, 35 km/22 mi southeast of Lille, on the River Scarpe; population (1990) 16,900. St-Amand has been a centre of porcelain manufacture since the 18th century, and now also has metallurgical and textile industries. There are hot sulphur and calcium springs nearby, and a nature park in the vicinity is a resort area for the urban population of the Nord region.
