Staines

Residential town in Surrey, southeast England, at the junction of the rivers Thames and Colne, 29 km/18 mi west of London; population (2001) 50,500. A bridge across the River Thames existed here in the 13th century and a more recent bridge was completed in 1962. Heathrow Airport is nearby.
