Stallone, Sylvester (Enzio) (1946- )

US film actor, director, and screenwriter. He became a star as the boxer in Rocky (1976; Academy Award for best picture) and its sequels 1979-2006. He wrote the screenplays for all six of the Rocky series, and directed three of them. He cemented his fame as an action hero with the Rambo series 1982-88.

Other action films include First Blood (1982), Demolition Man (1993), Cliffhanger (1993), The Specialist (1994), Assassins (1995), Cop Land (1997), and Avenging Angelo (2002). He had less success with comedies such as Oscar (1991) and Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot (1992). More recently he has starred in the thrillers Get Carter (2000), Eye See You (2001), and Driven (2001).
