Stalowa Wola

Industrial town in Rzeszów province, southeast Poland, on the River San, 61 km/38 mi north of Rzeszów; population (2002) 67,600. Its steel mill was built in 1938 as part of a government policy to establish industrialization away from Poland's western frontier with Germany. The town has three electricity-generating stations.
