Stanley, Louise (1883-1954)

US home economist. As chief of the new Bureau of Home Economics at the US Department of Agriculture 1923-43, she directed a massive consumer purchases study 1938-41, and promoted standardized clothing sizes.

She was born in Nashville, Tennessee. A Yale biochemistry PhD, she taught home economics at the University of Missouri 1907-23.
