Stansfield, Lisa

    0.01 sec.

Stansfield, Lisa (1966- )

English pop singer. Her soulful vocals with slick productions have won her several of the UK record industry's Brit Awards. She had a UK number-one hit with ‘All Around the World’ (1989). Her albums Affection (1990), Real Love (1991), and So Natural (1993) also enjoyed chart success in the UK and the USA.

By the mid-1990s Stansfield's star had diminished somewhat in the face of more contemporary-sounding dance fusions. After a four-year break, she released a self-titled album in 1997, and in 2003 she released Biography, a greatest-hits album.

She has sung the theme tunes to a number of films, including The Bodyguard (1992; ‘Someday (I'm Coming Back)’, Indecent Proposal (1993; ‘In All The Right Places’), The Wedding Planner (1994; ‘Somewhere My Baby Waits For Me’), and Mona Lisa Smile (2003; ‘I've Got the World on a String’).
