Steiger, Anna (1960- )

US soprano. After study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (1977-83), she sang Dorabella with Opera 80, in 1984. She was Micaela with the ESTO in 1985, returning for the 1987 first performance of Osborne's The Electrification of the Soviet Union. She sang Poppea at Glyndebourne (1986). She made her debuts at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and with the English National Opera ensemble (1987-88). She sang Weill's Jenny at Los Angeles (1989), and was Ravel's Concepcion with the New York City Opera (1990). Other roles included Mozart's Despina (at Stuttgart) and Donna Elvira (for Netherlands Opera). She is the daughter of the actor Rod Steiger.
