Stevens, Risé (1913– )

US mezzo-soprano. She studied at the Juilliard School, New York, and with Gutheil-Schoder in Vienna. After finding her first successes in Prague, she debuted at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 1938, where she remained popular for many years, appearing internationally.

She was born in New York City. From 1975 to 1978 she was president of the Mannes College of Music.
