Stewart, Jon

    0.07 sec.

Stewart, Jon (1962– )

US comedian. Known for his sarcastic, razor-sharp style of humour and criticism of established television news media, he became famous as anchor of The Daily Show, a cable television news parody programme, from 1999. His first major television work was on The Larry Sanders Show (1992–98), where he was frequently a guest host.

He earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from William and Mary College, Virginia, in 1984. He moved to New York and began doing stand-up comedy in 1987. After writing for several comedy shows during the late 1980s and early 1990s, he hosted The Jon Stewart Show (1993–95), MTV's first chat show, which was syndicated by Paramount in 1994.
