English racing-car driver. Despite being one of the best-known names in British motor racing, Moss never won the world championship. He was runner-up on four occasions, losing to Juan Manuel Fangio in 1955, 1956, and 1957, and to fellow Briton Mike Hawthorn in 1958. He received a knighthood in 2000.
