stock-car racing

Motor sport popular in the US. Stock cars are high-powered sports cars that race on specially built tracks at distances of up to 400-500 mi/640-800 km. The sport is governed in the US by the National Association for Stock-Car Auto Racing (NASCAR), founded in 1947.
