Stonehaven

Port, seaside resort, and former burgh, in Aberdeenshire unitary authority, Scotland, situated on Stonehaven Bay, 24 km/15 mi south of Aberdeen; population (2001) 9,600. A market centre for the surrounding area, it possesses a secure harbour servicing a small fishing industry.

The cliff-top ruins of Dunnottar Castle, once the stronghold of the Earls Mareschal of Scotland, lie 2 km/1 mi to the south.
