Stoppard, Miriam (1937– )

English physician, writer, and broadcaster. She made her debut as a television doctor in Don't Ask Me (1974–78), and appeared in the long-running series Baby & Co (1984–87). Her publications include Miriam Stoppard's Book of Babycare (1977), Miriam Stoppard's Health and Beauty Book (1988), and The Breast Book (1996).

Other television shows include Where There's Life (1981), So You Want to Stop Smoking? (1981–82), and Miriam Stoppard's Health and Beauty Show (1988), and she also contributes to medical journals and women's magazines.

Stoppard was born in Newcastle upon Tyne. She trained as a doctor at the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in London and at King's College Medical School in Durham, specializing in dermatology. After working in various hospitals, she became a research director for a pharmaceutical company before commencing a career in broadcasting.
