Storey, Helen

    0.02 sec.

Storey, Helen (1959– )

English fashion designer. She launched her own label in 1984, opened Boyd and Storey with fellow fashion designer Karen Boyd in 1987, and in 1989 designed a range of shoes for Dr Martens UK. Her first solo catwalk show was staged in 1990 and she launched a menswear collection in 1991.

After working in Italy for Valentino 1981–82 and Pino Lancetti, Storey returned to Britain and launched her own label under the umbrella Amalgamated Talent (a group set up by Caroline Coates to assist young designers). As well as the Doc Martens she designed evening shoes in 1989 and jewellery with the designer Eric Beamon. In 1991 she designed lines for Knickerbox and Sock Shop and in 1992 she launched the collection ‘2nd Life’, recycling used clothes, by adding sequins and beads and cutting the clothes to adapt them into new outfits. In 1997 she opened the non-profit Helen Storey Foundation to promote arts and learning.
