kerosene

Thin oil obtained from the fractional distillation of crude oil (unrefined petroleum; a highly refined form is used in jet aircraft fuel. Kerosene is a mixture of hydrocarbons of the alkane series, consisting mainly of hydrocarbons with 11 or 12 carbon atoms. Boiling points range from 160°C/320°F to 250°C/480°F. Crude oil contains approximately 10-15% kerosene.
