Stoyanov, Petar (1952– )

Bulgarian politician, member of the Union of Democratic Forces, president 1997–2001. In 1992 he became deputy minister of justice, and served as a member of parliament 1994–96.

Educated at Sofia University, he was a former divorce lawyer who only became politically active in 1989, following pro-democratic changes in the country.
