Strafford County

County in southeastern New Hampshire, bordering Maine; area 958 sq km/370 sq mi; population (1990) 104,200. Dover is its capital; Dover and Rochester are manufacturing centres. The county is drained by Salmon Falls and Cocheco rivers, the latter providing waterpower. The University of New Hampshire is at Durham.
