Strandhill

Seaside resort in County Sligo, Republic of Ireland, 8 km/5 mi west of Sligo town; population (2002) 1,000. Strandhill is a popular tourist centre: it has good beaches for surfing and a championship golf course. Sligo Airport is located here.

Strandhill is situated at the foot of Knocknarae Mountain (334 m/1,096 ft), the legendary burial site of Queen Maeve, warrior queen of Connacht.
