Streeter, Alison (1964– )

English swimmer. After swimming the English Channel five times in 1995, she became the overall record-holder for cross-Channel swims. In 1988 she broke the world record for the fastest crossing from Scotland to Ireland, and also set world records for the fastest swims around the Isle of Wight and around Jersey. She is the only person ever to succeed in swimming up the Thames

Streeter was born in Surrey, and took up swimming to help her asthma. Her swims have raised over £80,000 for charity through sponsorship.
