Streicher

German family of piano makers. The Streicher company was founded at Vienna in 1802 by Maria Anna (Nanette) Streicher (daughter of the piano maker Johann Stein). She married in 1794 Johann Andreas Streicher (1761–1833), a music teacher in Vienna, and founded a piano manufacture there after 1794.

Their son Johann Baptist Streicher (1796–1871) succeeded his parents in business, and from him it descended to his son Emil.

Streicher

German term for string instruments.
