Stromness

Seaport in Haven Bay (Hamnavoe) on Mainland, in the Orkney Islands, Scotland, situated on the southwest coast of the island, 22 km/14 mi west of Kirkwall; population (2001) 1,600. Industry is mostly maritime-related; it is the chief ferrypoint for travelling to the Scottish mainland, and has boatyards and a fishing fleet. The town also provides service functions for the local hinterland.

Stromness, South Georgia Island A former whaling station, Stromness is even more remote, in a sense, than Deception Island.
I'm deeply honoured that the people of Stromness wanted to keep me.
Topsham, Stromness and Lerwick are probably more remote now in 21st century Britain, than when they first greeted mariners and traders from around the world mooring at their doorsteps.
