Sullivan, James E(dward) (1860–1914)

US sports administrator. He was one of the founders of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) in 1888 and its secretary 1889–96. The James E Sullivan Memorial Trophy is awarded to the outstanding amateur athlete each year.

He was born in New York City.
