Sundance

Resort in north-central Utah, on the southeastern side of Mount Timpanogos, 16 km/10 mi northeast of Provo. Bought by the US film star and director Robert Redford in 1969, it is home to the Sundance Institute, which trains film directors here and sponsors a January film festival in Park City.

Sundance

Town and administrative headquarters of Crook County, in northeastern Wyoming, on Sundance Creek, 26 km/16 mi west of the South Dakota border; population (1990) 1,100. The area produces oil, coal, and livestock. It was the site, at Sundance Mountain (1,777 m/5,829 ft), of Sioux ceremonies.

A trading post from the 1870s, it had an airbase and nuclear reactor in the 1950s-60s.
