The People

Popular UK Sunday newspaper established in 1881. Owned by Mirror Group, it had a circulation of over 1,900,000 in 1998. It is noted for its sports coverage and popular features.

On Sunday people will gather at the Newton Rose pub, Newton Road, to raise funds for the Ova The Rainbow and MNS charities.
Trinity, which prints a raft of regional papers, along with the Daily and Sunday Mirror and the Sunday People, has also reported a "good performance" in a volatile advertising market that saw revenue drop dramatically in the previous two years.
The group, which also publishes 250 regional and national newspapers including the Daily Mirror and Sunday People, said pre-tax profits for 2005 were pounds 220.
