Sunnegardh, Thomas (1949– )

Swedish tenor. He studied at the Vadstena Academy, and appeared in operetta with the Swedish National Touring Opera. From 1982 he appeared at the Royal Opera, Stockholm, as Ferrando, Albert Herring, Tamino, and Taverner. He was widely admired as Lohengrin, which he sang at Moscow, Stuttgart, and Barcelona (1992). He also sang Wagner's Walther, Parsifal, and Erik. He performed the latter role on his London debut in 1991 at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, where he returned in 1992, as Florestan. He appeared further at the Deutsche Oper, Berlin and in Tokyo, Munich, and Brussels. He created the title role in Per Norgard's Siddharta at Stockholm, in 1983.
