Suomi, Verner Edward (1915–1995)

US meteorologist. He invented the Spinscan weather satellite camera in 1963. At the University of Wisconsin: Madison from 1948, he helped found the Space Science and Engineering Center in 1967 and helped develop the man-computer interactive data access system (McIDAS).

He was born in Eveleth, Minnesota. He began as a Minnesota school teacher 1938–42.
