Surinach, Carlos (1915-1997)

Spanish-born US composer. After study in Germany he conducted the Barcelona Philharmonic Orchestra from 1944. He settled in the USA in 1951, becoming a citizen in 1959.

Works

ballets Monte Carlo (1945) and David and Bathsheba (1960); three symphonies (1945-57), Sinfonietta flamenca (1954), Melorhythmic Dramas for orchestra (1966); chamber music, songs.
