Sutherland, Donald McNichol (1935– )Canadian-born US actor. He is known for his versatility and prolific career spanning half a century, often playing leading roles in war films. He gave a strong supporting performance in Robert Aldrich's classic World War II film The Dirty Dozen (1967), and went on to star in Robert Altman's dark war comedy M.A.S.H. (1970). Other films include the thrillers Klute (1971) and Don't Look Now (1973), the drama Ordinary People (1980), and the period piece Pride and Prejudice (2005). Sutherland often appears in offbeat roles, and later in his career played both father figures and villains. His other films include The Eagle has Landed (1976), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), Revolution (1985), A Time to Kill (1996), The Assignment (1997), Without Limits (1998), The Art of War (2000), and Baltic Storm (2003).
