Sutterman (or Sustermans), Justus (1597-1681)

Flemish painter of religious and historical subjects. He worked in Florence as court painter to the Medici grand dukes of Tuscany, and later in Rome, Genoa, Modena, Parma, and Piacenza. He also worked in Innsbruck, Austria, for the Holy Roman Emperor.

Sutterman was the pupil of Willem de Vos and (in Paris) of Frans Pourbus the Younger.
