Swann v. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education

US Supreme Court decision of 1971 dealing with methods of court-ordered desegregation in public schools. The Court unanimously upheld a district court order implementing its own desegregation plan after the school board's proved unsatisfactory. Among the methods judged legitimate in the forced desegregation of delinquent school systems were busing, racial quotas, and the rearrangement of school districts.
