Syberg, Franz (Adolf) (1904–1955)

Danish composer and organist. His father, the painter Fritz Syberg, sent him to study at the Leipzig Conservatory, and later he became a private pupil of Karg-Elert. In 1930 he returned to Denmark to study organ with Peder Thomsen in Copenhagen, and in 1933 he became organist at Kerteminde.

Works

incidental music to Büchner's Leonce and Lena (1931) and the marionette comedy Uffe hin Spage (1929); symphonies; concertino for oboe and strings; string quartet (1931), string trio, quintet for flute, clarinet, violin, viola and cello; suite for organ.
