Sylvania

City in northwestern Ohio, on the Michigan border 16 km/10 mi northwest of Toledo, of which it is a commuter suburb; population (1990) 17,300. Building materials, fertilizer, and tools are manufactured here. Large fossil beds have been discovered nearby.

It is the seat of Lourdes College (1958).
