Sisyphus

In Greek mythology, a king of Corinth who was condemned to Tartarus, a region of the underworld for the wicked. As punishment for his evil life, he was forced to roll a huge stone uphill for eternity; it always fell back before he could reach the top.

His fate is mentioned in Homer's Iliad and Odyssey.
