System X
In communications, a modular, computer-controlled, digital switching system used in telephone exchanges.
| System X was originally developed by the UK companies GEC, Plessey, and STC at the request of the Post Office, beginning in 1969. A prototype exchange was finally commissioned in 1978, and the system launched in 1980. |
