Systems Application Architecture

In computing, IBM model for client–server computing, introduced in 1987. SAA was a grandiose attempt to reduce the incompatibilities between IBM's many ranges of hardware, including mainframes, minicomputers, and PCs. It uses CUA (common user access) standards to ensure that commands and keystrokes are used consistently in different applications.

While IBM has made the concept a core element of its Systems Application Architecture (SAA) gameplan, it is still a heavily mainframe-oriented version of the client-server model that barely taps the power of PC and other desktop platforms.
