Szamotulczyk, Waclaw Z

Szamotulczyk (or Szamotuł), Wacław Z (c. 1524–1560)

Polish composer. He wrote much a cappella church music, some of which was published by printers Johann Berg ‘Montanus’ (died 1563) and his partner Ulrich Neuber (died 1571) of Nuremberg.

He studied at Poznań and at Kraków University, and in 1547 became composer to the king. From 1555 he was kapellmeister to Prince Michał Radziwiłł.
