Szeligowski, Tadeusz (1896–1963)

Polish composer. He studied at Lviv and Kraków, later with Nadia Boulanger in Paris. He taught at Poznań, Lublin, Wilno, and Warsaw. He made special studies of folk-song and early church music and was also influenced in his compositions by French neoclassicism.

Works

Orchestral

incidental music for plays, Maeterlinck's Blue Bird; two psalms for solo voices, chorus, and orchestra; concerto, Phantaisie rapsodique, suite St Casimir Fair for orchestra; clarinet concerto, piano concerto.

Chamber

two string quartets (1929, 1934); Lithuanian Song for violin and piano; Children's Album for piano; Green Songs, Flower Allegories, and other songs.
