Szirmay, Marta (1939– )

Hungarian mezzo-soprano. She sang at the Hungarian State Opera from 1964, as Amneris, Brangaena, and Orpheus. From 1977 she appeared in London at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, as Clytemnestra, Erda, and Mistress Quickly. She sang Ericles in the Henze/Monteverdi Ulisse at Salzburg (1985), and appeared at Cologne (from 1976), Vienna, Hamburg, and Berlin. In 1992 she appeared at Turin, in Blimunda by Corghi.
