Turkish languageLanguage of central and West Asia, the national language of Turkey. It belongs to the Altaic language family. Varieties of Turkish are spoken in northwestern Iran and several of the Central Asian Republics, and all have been influenced by Arabic and Persian. Originally written in Arabic script, it has been written within Turkey in a variant of the Roman alphabet since 1928.
