T-shirt

T-shaped top, often made of stretch cotton or a cotton mix, usually with short sleeves, although long sleeves are also used. T-shirts are normally worn as summer clothing or sportswear.

Originally worn by soldiers under their uniforms during World War I, the T-shirt was later adapted for labourers. Since the 1960s they have been popular fashion garments and are often printed with slogans, designs, patterns, and images. Katherine Hamnett became noted 1983-84 for her silk and cotton T-shirts emblazoned with logos such as ‘Stop Acid Rain’.
