TFT LCD

Another name for active matrix LCD, a type of colour liquid crystal display commonly used in laptop computers. TFT screens have one or more transistors to control each pixel on the screen, as opposed to the less expensive passive matrix displays where each pixel is not matched with a transistor. TFT LCDs have a faster refresh rate than other types of LCD, reducing the lag between computer and display.
