Tabachnik, Michel (1942– )

Swiss conductor and composer. He studied at the Geneva Conservatory and was assistant to Boulez 1967–71. Conducted BBC orchestras from 1966 and the Orchestre National de Paris from 1971. He was conductor of the Gulbenkian Orchestra at Lisbon, 1973–75; artistic director of the Ensemble Intercontemporain at Paris, 1976–77; and conductor of the Lorraine Philharmonic Orchestra, 1975–81. He has guested with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Suisse Romande, and Concertgebouw Orchestras. His own orchestral works include Mondes/Worlds (1972) and Cosmogonie pour une rose (1981).
