Taeuber-Arp, Sophie (1889–1943)

Swiss painter. One of the earliest painters of geometric abstractions, she was among the founders of the Abstraction-Création group in Paris 1931.

She studied in Munich and Hamburg, was professor at the Kunstgewerbeschule, Zürich, 1916–29, and married the sculptor Jean Arp 1921. After 1929 she lived in France.
