Talkeetna Mountains

Mountain range in southern Alaska, extending northeast–southwest for some 240 km/150 mi, to the north of Anchorage. Sovereign Mountain is the highest peak (2,696 m/8,846 ft).

The Talkeetna, Chulitna, and Susitna rivers converge near Talkeetna (population (1990) 250), to the west of the range. The search for silver, coal, and furs brought settlers to the Talkeetnas.
