Tamara

Symphonic poem by Balakirev based on a poem by Lermontov (sometimes called Thamar in English), composed 1866–82 and first performed at the Free School of Music, St Petersburg, in 1882.

A ballet on this work (choreographed by Mikhail Fokine, setting by Leon Bakst) was produced at the Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris, on 20 May 1912.
