Tangu
| Member of a Mongolian people living in parts of northeastern Tibet and Kansu, China. Traditionally nomadic, they controlled the trade routes between central Asia and the West, and established the Hsi Hsia Empire from the 11th to the 13th centuries. They were overrun by the Mongols led by Genghis Khan 1227. Most are Buddhists. |
